I saw Chris Colt in Omaha in the summer of 1972. He feuded with Cowboy Bob Ellis. One of their iconic matches took place on July 22 at Rosenblatt Stadium. It was the first outdoor wrestling show I attended. It was one of the bloodiest matches I have ever seen. They battled all over the infield of the stadium, and even used a crescent wrench! The photo of Chris Colt scraping the head of Bob Ellis at the 17:53 mark was from that match. (I tried to post the photo, but this site wouldn't allow that)

It was the one I was most looking forward to and it didn't disappoint. Great stuff. Learned a lot. Don't want to spoil it for anyone who might want to watch but just to say there's stuff that I don't think has ever surfaced before. Greg, you would probably know more than me about that.
Look forward to reading your piece tomorrow.

I enjoyed the Chris Colt episode. Never had any idea about his connection to Janis Joplin. His was an interesting story that hasn't been told to death. Dark Side has to find more topics like this, but I don't know if they get ratings for the fringe stuff.

Chris Colt had a feature in a magazine called "Official Wrestling" around 1983 where there was much discussion of his ties to Joe Cocker and Janis. I think they only published for 2-3 years but the style was totally different from the Aptermags. Lots of attention given to outlaw promotions and wrestlers you may have only seen a name in passing previously; they used Saul Weingeroff's name as the editor. I watched today and was glad to see many familiar faces like Bill Anderson, Ed Moretti and Tom Burke sharing their perspectives.

Chris Adams this week. Good show. Nothing much new to me but they do interview Booray (who shot him) and James Beard (who didn't shoot him).
2 of his kids ,his brother and Jeannie are all in it too.
Booray's description of the fight that ended his life is one I didn't hear before. In fact I completely misremembered what happened.

I once sent Jeanie a load of DVDs from her time in World Class and WCW, as she didn't have anything, and she sent me a signed copy of her autobiography as a thank you. Nice lady.

I think Adams was an asshole and was bullying Booray around.

Nothing else went down other than what we already know.

I think Adams was an asshole and was bullying Booray around. There was no evidence in this show to that effect. I think it's a brother in denial a bit. And a brother who was in England while Chris was halfway across the world wreaking havoc whenever he took a drink and probably sometimes when he didn't. As Srossi said, it's amazing he lasted out in the wild as long as he did. If someone is OK when not drinking and a maniac when drinking then they're just good at hiding it when not drinking. That's been my experience.

I don't think it was explicitly said that he was sober when beating and choking the young guy who was driving them and when abusing his wives or girlfriends. Maybe I missed that. I have a feeling he was drinking all the time for years anyway.
A couple of people said he was a really great guy when not drinking and I don't believe that. But then the they talk about the rage in his eyes and it seems that wasn't just when drinking, but was made worse by drink, obviously.
Anyway, he was a piece of shit who is lucky he didn't go to prison for a lot longer.

I remember the second wrestling mag I ever purchased, PWI with Hogan on the cover, had an article from when Gino blinded Adams, titled "Chris Adams: Being Blinded Has Opened My Eyes" - when I was a kid I loved that headline and it always stuck in my head.

I have heard about the Chris Colt episode but haven’t seen it yet. Did he really know Janis Joplin and Joe Cocker or was it a pro wrestling tall tale or perhaps something he mentioned in gimmick that was taken seriously?

It was certainly presented that way. It's not that far fetched. I'm almost sure in the episode that they mention he was a roadie or security for Joe Cocker ,but only once or twice. Meeting Joplin in San Fran is also not far fetched. I'm remembering Colt wrote about this in his diary
