Would her surgery effect her balance in any way? Don’t they ‘sign off’ on being shown the JP drain before leaving? And yeah it’s BS but what do you think ‘she wants’? And age of lady? Surgery has no effect. She was walking on her own for days prior to discharge, up and down the hallway. She signed the discharge paperwork and I always ask if there is anything else they have questions about. This lady was about 50. Technically she was a discharged patient and I'm only responsible for her to the door, not to the car.

Was her name KAREN by any chance? Lol , no it was one of those names that parents spell differently to make their kid be "unique " like Ashli or Traci

I got a new workplace issue from this weekend. So this past weekend I charged and was out of staffing ( a rarity where I only had 1 patient each day vs the normal 5) as I ran the floor. I had the same lady both days, and she discharged late afternoon on Sunday. This was an alert and oriented lady, walked around on her own etc...She was in for abdominal surgery. Was going home with a JP drain (a drain that looks like a rubber egg and pulls fluid away from an abscess) So on Sunday after doing discharge paperwork with her, I walk her out. Her friend was picking her up with her daughter in tow (kid was @ 15) We get out to the car and the patient leans over to knock on the back window to get the kid to open the door (the kid had headphones on and wasn't paying attention) In doing so she lost her balance and teetered and fell back on her ass. I go to help her up, but she's already getting herself up on her own, then proceeds to bang on the car window again to get the kids attention. I ask if she's ok, and she says yes. At that point she indicates she's getting in the car and that's it. I go back inside Monday I get a call from my manager who tells me that the lady complained that I didn't help her enough when she fell. I'm like ...wtf does that mean? She was discharged. Fell because she missed a step with the curb, fell on her ass, said she was ok and went to get in the car again. What was I supposed to do. Response from manager was that the patient thought I should have caught her...like I was supposed to be in the right spot to anticipate that after walking the full length of the hospital, I was supposed to know she was going to lose her balance and be positioned right behind her. Then today she calls the patient advocate again saying that I hadn't taught her how to use her JP drain at home (she had been emptying it all week on her own and writing down output totals for us to record. She didn't need to be taught anythin). Then said I talked too much? At this point I asked my manager that if she had an issue all along, she could have opted out of my being her RN anytime on Saturday, or told the night charge not to put me back with her on Sunday. If she didn't like me asking her the same questions that I ask every patient she could have said something, but obviously opted not to. Not sure what this twat's angle was but I told my manager that this is pretty much the only patient complaint I"ve had since she took over our unit 4 years ago, and it's a BS one at best. If I'd fucked up a med, or a procedure or swore at the cunt etc...then I could see it. But this bitch loses her balance as she's about to get in a car and somehow I'm to blame for not preventing her from doing it? Murica. She's looking to sue you because her Welfare cheques ain't cutting it. Are there security cameras at that exit you took her out to when she was discharged? If there are then the entire incident with her fall may be on video.

Subject: Ava xxxxx
Here’s what I learned from Ava
· Her husband of 17 years was the other person with same last name who answered the ad.
o They started dating after high school making her at least 35.
§ I initially thought she might be in her 20s.
· They have 3 daughters ages 16, 6 & 3,
o The youngest sleeps through the night and the oldest is responsible enough to baby sit.
· Bought their current home on Adams St in Burlington not Cinnaminson.
· She had done Uber and Uber eats until one of the passengers tried to get her go inside their home.
o Husband didn’t like it.
· Military family
o Mom’s Italian, Dads Cuban and Puerto Rican
o Lost a brother in the Middle East in 2006.
o Father still active doing training in GA.
o Other brother is a State trooper.
§ I didn’t ask where
· They want the extra work because of what the inflation has done to them.
· She hates Biden and Democrats.
· She’s use to being criticized in Jersey for not being a Democrat.
· It gave me a chance to reinforce that politics at the work place can be volatile.
o Didn’t disagree with her view point though.

Is this a real job interview assessment? Every single thing he wrote here is highly illegal. Like, all of it! There's not one single thing here he's allowed to ask about. He would be terminated from any real company immediately just for putting this in writing.

Are you sure you meant to post Steve's (and your?) email addresses? I already wrote to Steve to tell him he's fired. It's my sworn duty as an HR professional, and I have broad termination powers across all companies.

It's not even a 'fake assessment' it is what he sent to me (and my boss)
My boss did ask me 'why didn't you address it?' and I said 'I had fallen over sorry about that' (my reply to that email 'was there any indication she has the tools in the toolbox to do the job?')
I did a day or two later address it with Steve who reverted back to his asshole himself, saying he asked nothing wrong, etc simply he can't ever admit to being 'wrong' about anything.
So - I asked 'so her reply to 'Tell me a little bit about yourself' was all that?
Of course it wasn't.
The joke of it all the candidate (Ava) once upon a time worked in HR for AAA.
If you hear about a South Jersey newspaper being shut down by the labor board by all means pray for me as I've been doing this crap for 15 years and am likely no longer qualified for anything else
