Impact ran 2 live shows from Australia this weekend on Fite TV and the usual pay outlets. The main event of Night 1 was Alex Shelley defending the World title against Steve Maclin. This was a really solid, fundamentally sound, old school 25-minute match where Shelley worked the knee and Maclin working the back the entire time, both guys sold, and no one did anything flashy. It was a Jom Cornette wet dream, although Impact might be beneath his radar at this point. If you like this type of thing and are fed up with the AEW style of 18 moves a minute with no selling, you'll want to check this one out. It['s certainly the best Maclin match ever, and a really good showing for Shelley.
Night 2 was headlined by Shelley and Sabin vs. Ace Austin and Chris Bey for the Tag titles and Deonna Purrazzo defending the Women's title against Gisele Shaw.
Impact filled out the cards by using top Australian stars Robbie Eagles, Adam Brooks, and Slex, among a few others.

Bully will reveal his new partner on the Busted Open radio show. Is Scott D’Amore being taken seriously as a wrestler at this stage, or is he simply being used as a manager/chickenshit on the apron? I know he’s been doing the whole SVP deal and staying in suit and tie, but if I’m correct on this, that means Bully can just bring in D-Von for the match. We all know his days wrestling are over. But there’s no reason he can’t suit up and “get the tables” one last time. He’s not bumping, he should be able to hold up a guy for the 3-D when Billy does the work, no top rope wazzup, but nobody would care. It would be a nice way for the Dudley Boyz/Aces and Eights to be put to bed permanently and with a victory.

D’Amore is pushing himself way too much with this match and the vignettes on his history every week. That said, he’s not exactly supposed to be able to stand toe-to-toe with Bully and Maclin, which is why he brought PCO in to do the heavy lifting. He’s not positioned as an active wrestler anymore. But he doesn’t back down from the wrestlers and acts like a tough guy too much.

Impact ended yesterday with a tease of D'Amore's mystery partner, as you saw a hand grabbing a Team Canada shirt. Realistically, it can't be Bobby Roode or Eric Young. That leaves Petey Williams or the completely forgotten Johnny Devine. Again, not exactly putting asses in seats. I think Teddy Hart had a cup of coffee in Team Canada. They could at least make a buzz if it was him, assuming he's not in jail.

Petery Williams is a producer for WWE now, isn't he?
Lance Storm, however, is a producer for Impact.

Lance Storm has no connection to Team Canada and according to Cagematch he last had 2 matches in 2016, and a few in 2014. He was featured in some of the vignettes putting D'Amore over from a few weeks ago. I'm not sure what type of shape he's in to do anything physical.

Why couldn't it be Eric Young?

Why couldn't it be Eric Young? He's back with WWE again. I think they're using him as an agent, but I'm not sure if they're waiting to debut him as a wrestler on TV again. They literally "killed him off" in Impact, the 2nd or 3rd time they've murdered a wrestler who was leaving.

He apparently refused to work with Vince once he came back into the picture and was quietly granted his release. Hard to keep these things a surprise these days, so kudos to EY and Impact.

Nick Aldis is already done with Impact after the post-Slammiversary TV tapings. He signed a short-term contract and is now a free agent again.
Zicky Dice, who had done success in the NWA but was used as extremely low-level comedy in Impact, is also gone following the tapings.

What's A1 doing these days? He was at ringside for the show and was introduced to the crowd. I haven't thought of that guy in well over a decade and now I've been forced to think of him twice in a few days.
