This has become a pretty good show and it’s a shame more people aren’t watching. Let’s add a running Impact thread to all the others.
One of the highlights of tonight’s show was The Good Brothers visiting The Briscoe’s chicken farm in Sandy Fork. At one point they hop on the tractor and goof on the Boneyard Match.
Karl Anderson: “Remember Uncle Allen (AJ Styles) driving a tractor in the old graveyard…boneyard, or whatever it was.”
Luke Gallows (doing Undertaker impersonation): “You will feed my chickens!”
They then to to impress one of the Briscoe kids who must be 2 years old by telling him, “You know, we’ve headlined the Tokyo Dome 8 times. 8 times! Do you want an autograph?” Then they make him “Too Sweet” them as he looks baffled by the whole thing.
Inside the chicken coop, “It smells like a Tama Tonga match in here.”
How can you not figure out how to make money with these guys?
Papa Briscoe also makes his Impact debut after many ROH appearances (and at least 1 match).
This all leads to a chicken farm brawl of course as the Briscoes attack. Good stuff.

PCO popped his shoulder out of its socket it grotesque fashion in his loss to Steve Maclin. He injured it a few weeks ago so maybe this is a new trick. It looked fantastic, like the infamous George Steele job guy.

Watching AXS promote NJPW and AEW talent during the commercial breaks of Impact, I really wish there was a way that Impact could work as closely with AEW as they used to. I know they have a good relationship and they just lent W Morrissey to AEW and AEW just sent Frankie Kazarian to Impact, and they both work with NJPW, but they could do a lot more. I’d love to see AEW send some Dark guys like the Work Horsemen to Impact on a more full-time basis. They’d tear it up there. And the occasional star who has trouble getting TV time in AEW would be a big boost for Impact.

Matt Morgan returns to Impact for the first time in many years as part of Impact’s 20th Anniversary. He’s now a mayor in a small town in Florida and is confronted by Vincent of Honor No More who calls him “a ghost of Impact’s past”. You don’t get the sense that this is any more than a one-off guest appearance.

Footage from June 3 in NJPW with Ace Austin joining Bullet Club. Funny how the Bullet Club B Team are on Impact and the A Team are on AEW, although Jay White and The Good Brothers do make a cameo here in the post-match interview (and I love how The Good Brothers are in both Japan and Delaware on the same episode of Impact). I really want AEW to bring in the Impact BC members like Austin and Chris Bey to be at least seconds at Forbidden Door.

Matt Cardona makes his first Impact appearance since getting injured. He hands his Impact Digital Media championship to Brian Meyers since he can’t defend it. It’s now Meyers vs. Rich Swann at Slammiversary.

Honor No More (Eddie Edwards, Matt Taven, and Mike Bennett) beat the Motor City Machine Guns and AEW’s Frankie Kazarian in a GREAT main event that holds up with anything on Dynamite in recent weeks. Edwards pins Sabin.
Heath Slater lays out HNM after the match getting revenge for them injuring Rhino, but Kenny King and Vincent run in and put a stop to that.

Last night we had the reunion no one ever asked for as Wes Brisco and Garrett Bischoff, accompanied to the ring by D-Lo Brown, returned to the company to re-form Aces & Eights for one night only. This is part of the 20th anniversary festivities in which former stars are being brought back weekly. They lost to Kenny King and Vincent of Honor No More, but D-Lo got his revenge on them for injuring him and forcing him away from the commentary desk back in January but laying them out after the match. The rest of Honor No More attacked D-Lo but the Motor City Machine Guns and Frankie Kazarian made the save.
In other news, it appears that PCO has been broken off from Honor No More and he's been doing his own thing for weeks.

I think there is chance that AJ Styles and/or Jeff Jarrett will be there. Arguably the two most important names in TNA history.

Rossi has successfully willed his way into building an Impact thread now that he has had other people posting in it - good work! I’m actually thinking about checking out Slammiversary. I LOVED TNA right up to the night Hogan showed up. Not a knock on ol’ Hulkster, I just liked the product more before he came in. And I enjoyed the six sided ring even though it beat the shit out of the talent.

It's been a really strong show for several years and it's a shame that no one has watched any of it outside of Kenny Omega's appearances.

Catching up on last night's Slammiversary.
Opening match was one of the best Ultimate X matches in company history as Mike Bailey wins the X Division title in a 6-way. Really great match.
They begin to talk about the history of TNA/Impact and pay tribute to the late Bob Ryder, who meant so much to the company. They talk about how he and Jeff and Jerry Jarrett basically started TNA and dedicate the show to him. Class move there to recognize him.

Fprmer backstage interviewer Scott Hudson is our first surprise guest as he returns to his old role to interview Nick Aldis, Motor City Machine Guns, and Frankie Kazarian.
Hudson congratulates MCMG for being voted the Most Impactful Tag Team in Impact history by the fans. MCMG mention all the other great teams that were under consideration, including the Hardys, Team 3D, Beer Money, America's Most Wanted, and Generation Me (yes, that's what they still called them).
Aldis cute a brief, good promo about owing all his future success in the business to the opportunities he first got in TNA.
They tease a mystery partner as their 5th man later tonight, but won't reveal who.

The Good Brothers beat the Briscoes to regain the Tag titles. Decent match but these two haven't had the MOTY candidate that people have been expecting from them yet.
After the match, America's Most Wanted come out. James Storm cuts a good promo. He says the Briscoes and Good Brothers are just like they were, all the know how to do is fight and drink and now that they're done fighting it's time to drink. He dedicates this toast to all the haters who said TNA wouldn't last 1 week and now 20 years later "Sorry about your damn luck!" Chris Harris is apparently sober now because Storm gives him a bottled water instead of a beer and jokes that every team needs a designated driver. They all drink. Great segment.

Nice video package on the original voices of TNA, Mike Tenay and Don West. When they come back, announcers Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt are in tears as they talk about them paving the way, and the current health issues that West faces. They plug West's GoFundMe and sends thoughts and prayers.
Impact is doing a tremendous job recognizing their history tonight.

I started watching TNA from day one a while ago. Right now I'm just past the point when Impact started on Fox Sports Net. The first few months were really rough, with a lot of wrestlecrap, but it's a much more solid product than I was expecting. I really had hardly seen any TNA before I started watching weekly in 2020. Some people that I had no appreciation had really strong runs in 2003/04. Chris Harris was great, and bizarrely, Goldilocks was a very good promos. Monty Brown deserved much more than he got in TNA and WWE.

Christy Hemme is back as special guest ring announcer, and she intrododuces EVP Scott D'Amore, who makes his old Team Canada entrance.
It's time for the 10-man tag match with Honor No More vs. Team Impact and Hemme is introducing everyone.
Since Kenny King was already in Ultimate X, HNM is Eddie Edwards, Mike Bennett, Matt Taven, Vincent, and PCO is back with them tonight, accompanied by Maria Kanellis.
For Team Impact, Frankie Kazarian comes out first. At ringside is his wife, former Impact Women's champion Traci Brooks, and their son Rebel.
A surprise guest is shown in the house sitting next to Brooks, and it's former TNA referee Earl Hebner. They send condolences to the Hebner family on the passing of Dave. His son Brian Hebner is back to officiate this match.
The Motor City Machine Guns are out next, followed by Nick Aldis.
Who's the mystery man? Dixie Carter returns to Impact. She thanks every talent that ever stepped in the ring for TNA, as well as the production crews and fans. The 5th man is...Davey Ricahrds! Eddie Edwards flips out at ringside as we now have a battle of the American Wolves.
Scott D'Amore puts over the cross-promotional talent assembled to represent Impact tonight, with AEW, the NWA, and MLW loaning their wrestlers to this match.

There was a lot going on here. Good action with the big tease being the face-off between Edwards and Richards, which Edwards kept avoiding until the end when they finally had an exchange.
Traci Brooks jumped the rail to stop Maria Kanellis from interfering. Kenny King interfered and D-Lo Brown ran in to take him out. Everyone hits their finishers. Brian Hebner took a ref bump and Earl jumped the rail and took roughly 17 minutes to get into the ring and take off his shirt to reveal the old TNA referee's shirt underneath. Sabin pins PCO to win it for Team Impact. D'Amore, Brooks, the Hebners, D-Lo, and Team Impact celebrate in the ring as the fans chant "TNA". The Hebners are wearing black armbands and point up to the sky for Dave.

A.J. Styles appears on the screen! Huge pop. Nice of WWE to let him do this. Styles says it all started in June 2002 when he teamed with Low-Ki and Jerry Lynn against the Flying Elvises. I forgot about that nonsense from the first few months. Styles puts over Jarrett and Raven as his early opponents. He talks about the matches with Angle and says the match that changed the business forever was him vs. Joe vs. Daniels in 2005. He reveals that he was voted Most Impactful Male Wrestler in TNA history, and he thanks the fans. He thanks WWE for letting him do this and says they understand how special this night is for him. He wishes Impact another great 20 years.

Jordynn Grace wins the 5-way Queen of the Mountain match for the Women's title. This match is so convoluted that even the announcers couldn't help make fun of it in the weeks leading up to the match. It was fine for what it was but other than nostlagia, I really never need to see this type of match again.

Main event time as Josh Alexander defends the World title against Eric Young. This was basically a tribute match to TNA's past with more than a dozen signature moves used of guys like Styles, Daniels, Angle, Jarrett, Joe, etc. They also used Jeff Jarrett's guitar and Scott D'Amore's Canadian flag/hockey stick. In the end, Alexander predictably wins.
Solid PPV that really did a good job paying homage to Impact's history if you have been a long-time fan who stick with them through all the bullshit.

Gisele was born a man and transitioned 12 years ago. Few apparently knew in the wrestling business. She only told Impact management earlier this year.
There is a lot of that "Oh, I always knew" from fanboys, but I'm calling them on it. I didn't know; they wouldn't have either.
The Filipino background is no doubt part of the exoticness of her look.
My piece with some older quotes from her:

After reading about 40 glowing reports on TNA from Rossi, and watching clips here and there, I’ve found the Impact Channel on Roku TV. The wife had a migraine last night so I put it on around 7. It stayed on til like 3am when I woke up to piss. I enjoyed the mix of old and new, and they had PPVs on for free. The thing I dont really get, is that they did these “spotlight shows” on wrestlers, but it seemed totally random to me. I like Jordynne Grace, but her getting a spotlight in front of somebody like Moose or something like that. My guess is he already had one. But I am going to find the show on cable this week. Last time I saw them on TV was when they were on Pop TV, in an arena that held dozens of their top fans. Made the Orlando Impact Zone look like an airport terminal.

This was the match that Raven supposedly invented in TNA 20 years ago, and it’s being brought back as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations.

The match itself was really fantastic and appeared to be the close of Kazarian's crossover into Impact. 20 years ago, Sabin was an indy wrestler from the midwest and Kazarian was an indy wrestler from the west coast and they both had the nickname "The Future". TNA brought them in to feud with each other over the name, and 2 decades later Sabin won the final match of the feud. Kazarian's wife Traci Brooks and son were at ringside for the match.

Watching Friday night’s Against All Odds. Rich Swann sure has fallen far since he was in title vs. title matches against Kenny Omega. Here he loses the Digital Media title to Brian Myers on the pre-show.

Brian Myers has about 2% of the talent and charisma of his buddy Matt Cardona.

I agree but more importantly than that, I really think there is something to be said for another company completely ruining someone beyond the point they can be taken seriously. Myers was a full-fledged jobber for YEARS, his biggest gimmick was that he had a historic losing streak and it’s not like that was supposed to go anywhere, he just always lost. That’s not the same as maybe The Good Brothers or Cardona or Swann himself being misused. Now if you bring him in and let him have competitive matches with your roster, everyone looks like jobbers too.

Also tonight, Impact announced that KUSHIDA will be debuting next week, and vignettes began airing for the arrival of former NXT UK star Killer Kelly. So Impact is loading up with some new talent after the last PPV.

So Impact is now heavily promoting Ric Flair’s last match, and they began a segment called “Ric Flair’s Moment of the Week”. The first moment of course is Flair’s TNA debut in 2010 and him coming out to watch the Styles-Angle match. I think this period of Styles’ career is best left forgotten.

PWInsider:
Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers, Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows will no longer be under contract to Impact after tonight's TV taping in Louisville, Kentucky, PWInsider.com has confirmed with multiple sources.
The duo signed a multi-year deal with Impact after exiting WWE in July 2020, debuting at that year's Slammiversary, sparking a new chapter for the promotion at the time.
While Gallows and Anderson will be contractually free, they are expected to be appearing for New Japan Pro Wrestling. We are told they are have also commited to working additional Impact dates if and when they fit around their New Japan commitments, so they are expected to appear for Impact going forward, including August's Chicago events.
As of tomorrow, however, Gallows and Anderson would be 100% free and clear to take offers and/or sign with any other promotion, should a deal be made.

Alex Shelley vs. Chris Sabin last night was as good a match I've seen since Ilja Dragunov vs. WALTER, although it was a completely different type of match. A technical masterpiece that should be watched by all. MOTY candidate. Shelley put on a clinic and did at least 3 new submissions or moves I've never seen before in my life. Go out of your way to watch this one.

To promote Flair's final match, tonight Impact aired the infamous Flair-Lethal segment where Lethal did his Flair impersonation the whole time and they had the whoo-off. Still classic stuff. Flair can't hide his amusement at all.

This will be my weekly "Why the fuck aren't you watching Impact?" post, but in the main event last night, KUSHIDA beat Rich Swann in a first-time-ever dream match that great. Not as good as last week's MOTY candidate, but still as good as any match on television this week. Good to see KUSHIDA able to wrestle like KUSHIDA again.
Also, Tom Hannifan is really growing on me as a solid, no-frills, play-by-play announcer. He does his research, he has the history of all the guys, he knows all the moves, he puts over all the angles. No attempt at comedy or being a "personality" or over-selling. Just workmanlike and effective and calls it like a sport. And it's a 2-man booth, so that's refreshing from even some of the AEW stuff, which has a lot of good commentators but sometimes has up to 5 of them at one time to distract from the match. This is just old school and on point.

The Good Brothers are wrapping up with Impact. Their contracts actually expired in July but they agreed to continue to work through the Aug. 26 & 27 TV tapings. After that they have committed to a 2-week tour of NJPW. They will then be free agents and are expected to either return to WWE or go to AEW. AEW was a foregone conclusion a few months ago, but obviously much has changed.

Former ROH TV and 6-Man champion Shane Taylor will debut on Impact's BTI tonight. Impact will be shaking up the roster again in the next few weeks with an influx of new talent and some old talent, most notably The Good Brothers, departing. NJPW's Aussie Open, who just wrapped up with AEW after a brief stint teaming with Will Ospreay there, will also be around for a bit.

Joe Doering, who beat a brain tumor once already, announced that his cancer has returned and he would need to undergo brain surgery. Obviously this could mean the end of his career. Impact released a new shirt for Doering with 100% of the proceeds going to him to help pay medical bills. Doering is best known for his time in NOAH where he was a former GHC champion, and he also spent some time in WWE’s developmental system.

I actually interviewed Joe Hendry just ahead of the deal being announced in a SlamWrestling.net exclusive. Seems like a good dude, with realistic expectations:

The Good Brothers wrapped up last night, jobbing to the Motor City Machine Guns in a first-time ever match. Afterwards they all "Too Sweeted" each other and they rode off into the sunset. It will be interesting to see if they choose AEW or WWE. With he Bucks suspended and HHH back in charge, they seem likely to choose WWE instead, even though AEW was a foregone conclusion for the past year.

Delirious made his Impact debut at Victory Road in a loss to X Division champion Mike Bailey. It’s being reported that he will be a producer going forward, although he hasn’t officially signed yet. He worked backstage at the latest Impact tapings, which was basically his try-out. Delirious of course was head booker and head trainer for ROH for several years until they went on hiatus and he became odd man out when Tony Khan bought the company. He was very well respected there and could work his way up to a major role in Impact, and it’s not inconceivable he could end up in WWE one day since WWE has poached many Impact producers recently.

To prove that Impact will use anyone who ever wrestled for WWE, the former Fandango, "Dirty Dango" debuted last night. Possibly the only wrestler in history whose music was very much over (for a few months, or maybe only weeks) while the wrestler himself was not over in the slightest. Given that he won't attract a single new viewer, the only reason to do this is to get a "former Fandango debuts for Impact" story on the news sites. But Bully Ray returned on the same show, so it just makes no sense. Bring in a young indie guy and try to get him over. Maybe there is just some irony in Dirty Dandy feuding with Bryan Myers in a battle of two guys who had very long WWE runs despite having zero charisma and never being over.

They used No Way Jose for all of 2 weeks, which was worse but meant nothing. Fandango won’t be there long. They have a relatively small roster, they can rotate a couple of guests in and out. It’s not like they signed him to a 5-year contract.

The Raven HOF induction was fantastic and easily the best Impact HOF ever. Raven and Dreamer were both great in limited time. Raven gave a real speech, probably because he never expects to get into the WWE HOF like most of the others. He went all the way back to his PNW days putting over big “The Grappler” Len Denton for helping him develop his wrestling mind. He even thanked Lodi! There’s a name I haven’t thought of in almost a couple of decades. He ends it by thanking Dreamer and turning on him with a DDT. Just perfect. This is all on the pre-show so I imagine it's easy to find for free.

Bound For Glory was good but the booking in a couple of matches was ridiculous. They had AEW afterthought Frankie Kazarian best Mike Bailey for the X Division title, and they brought in Bully Ray to win Gauntet for the Gold, pinning Steve Maclin, who had been getting a huge push, to end it. They just killed their roster in favor of ancient outsiders.

Matt Taven, Mike Bennet, Maria Kanellis, and Vincent of Honor No More are all gone from Impact following the post-BFG TV tapings. They were on a short contract and fulfilled it amicably. If ROH ever gets going under Tony Khan, they are obvious choices to return to fill out the roster, but there is still no TV deal on the horizon.

Vincent, days removed from his Impact contract expiring, was backstage at Raw last night. No word on if there is genuine interest or if he was just visiting friends. He has an interesting look, but I really don't see how he would fit in with WWE. Vincent was there with Dutch, his former ROH 6-Man Tag title partner.

I've been watching old TNA from the beginning over the past year or so. Some of the early Asylum stuff was pretty rotten, but by the time Impact started the show was pretty good. I'm now in the summer of 2005, when TNA didn't even have a TV show (although their debut on Spike has been announced) and all they have is Impact streaming on their website (in 2005!) and PPVs. The TV is decent, but the PPVs are superb in this era. Unbreakable 2005 was superb, every match was at least good, and Styles vs Daniels vs Joe was outstanding. Apart from the odd clip here and there, I'd never seen any TNA before I started watching it during lockdown in 2020.

Josh ALexander was on Kurt Angle's podcast and officially asked permission to continue to use the anklelock as his finisher, which Angle granted. Alexander said he had also asked Ken Shamrock for permission when they first met and Shamrrock was fine with it. Angle said Shamrock was the originator and he also asked him for permission to use the move. They spoke about being "old school" and the importance of respecting the moves of guys that came before you.

Chelsea Green wrapped up with Impact as of the match that aired last night in which she lost to Mickie James. Matt Cardona is not leaving.

Impact threw in the towel on Thanksgiving and just aired a clip show of past Thanksgiving episodes involving turkey costume matches and food fights, involving 95% talent that is long gone. I skimmed though for about 20 minutes and it was a nice nostalgia blast. AT one time, just about every star passed through TNA.

Wow, tonight on Impact we got a surprise 59 minute 50 second match that was unadvertised and came out of nowhere and was perfectly booked. At around the hour mark of the program, Josh Alexander came out to challenge Bully Ray, but Bully played the usual heel card and declined. Mike Bailey came out and asked for a match instead. There was no telegraphing what was to come until you realized how long the match was getting around the 40-minute mark. Then the advertised main event was postponed until next week because this match was running long. Then they announced that AXS was giving them a longer running time in case the match went the full 60-minute time limit. The match went past the 11pm hour and Alexander won it with about 10 seconds to spare. The next program was NJPW which had their run time shortened to about 53 minutes so that was still off by midnight. That one showed the FTR IWGP Tag title defense against Jeff Cobb and Great-O-Khan in its entirety, which had been heavily advertised on Impact, and they didn’t need the full hour. This was masterful programming.

He had a good match. He's not WOTY. Alexander has a greater claim to that. This is his 2nd classic 60-minute match of the year, the first with TJP, and he's been carrying Impact all year.

Good stuff.

The first-ever backstage interviewer Goldilocks is back. She was a major piece of ass back in the day, but it has been 20 years.
She interviews Gail Kim, who was voted Most Impactful Woman in TNA history. She thanks Impact for giving women the opportunity to wrestle before anyone else, but surprisingly never mentioned Awesome Kong by name.

Raven was back tonight for the first time in many years promoting the Clockwork Orange House of Fun match between Sami Callihan and Moose at Against All Odds. This was the match that Raven supposedly invented in TNA 20 years ago, and it’s being brought back as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations.

Brian Hebner announced his retirement tonight as a referee. Hebner reffed the main event on Impact between Chris Sabin and Frankie Kazarian, and then called it a career.

Former AEW star Alan Angels and former WWE star Big Kon (Konnor from The Ascension) are now full-time with Impact and are the newest members of Violent By Design, as revealed last night. Angels had a handful of Impact matches recently and Big Kon did a one-off early in the year before being signed.

Good to see a young guy like Big Kon getting a chance in the business.

Imagine if wrestlers had asked Danno O'Mahoney for official permission to use the Irish Whip... and he had said no.

Jim Cornette: "Wrestling would be better off for it. What a phony move. When was the last time anyone was Irish whipped in a bar fight?"

Impact ordered new belts for all their champions from Top Rope Belts. The designs are identical, they're just newer and shinier.

Is that my wrestler of the year Mike Bailey? How I was mocked only a week ago.

He had a good match. He's not WOTY. Alexander has a greater claim to that. This is his 2nd classic 60-minute match of the year, the first with TJP, and he's been carrying Impact all year.
