Researching is a real niche thing and not everyone likes using their skills and resources to move projects along. I started this topic to see who weighs in with things they are thinking of starting or are doing offline and will post later, that kind of thing. It might bring people with a common idea together, or avoid duplicity before it can start, refocusing a researcher's efforts ahead of time.
Moreover there may be people who don't post in this forum but have areas of interest nobody has covered yet. A morsel of an idea might spark a researcher to take on a new project, or at least offer suggestions to a novice as to where to look.
If having this thread active generates some unique discussions and traffic, it will be mission accomplished.

I pretty much spend all my time updating wrestlingdata. If anyone is interested in what I'm doing at any particular time, I'll be happy to chat about it. I flit around all over the place. I had been working on Tampa and Miami for the 1970s, and now I'm updating Stampede for the first half of the 1950s. Most of it is editing rather than adding huge amounts of new cards, but I think it's just as important to fix long-standing mistakes from big towns that have pretty much been "done".
I'd love to contribute more here, but it pretty much cuts the amount of cards I can get through in half, if I do both, and the ability to cross-reference at wrestlingdata is so helpful to me that it's a pretty easy choice.
I'm also happy to answer any questions about anything at wrestlingdata and fix any mistakes there. Unless it's about the site being down. I can't do anything about that.

Just an update on my projects here; starting around April 2021 I had a chunk of activity scouring research archives and places like Worthpoint, and channeling much of it into "Random Results 12" as a catch-all for cards that didn't immediately fit territorial threads or individual career records. After a year or so uploading, I'm wrapping up what I have found short of 25-30 placeholder dates for shows, which is mere news articles mentioning a card or a box advertisement that offers only generic details.
Some these cards might very well belong for territory threads, but I'm at the point of wanting them to go up with the lineups unavailable until I might find fleshed out lineups or results. Many of these cards are Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska towns where the All-Star Wrestling name doesn't distinguish if it's a Geigel/Gust Karras card or Verne AWA show.
Anyway, my work with these search sites will continue, but since I made about 5000 posts this year, my recall as to whether I looked something over already might be clouded. It would be interesting to know if certain areas and time frames resonate with those who check RR12 regularly. That thread is over 140,000 views and over half of that is probably my own clicking.

The Nebraska cards under the All-Star banner are Joe Dusek cards. He brought in guys from both AWA and Central States, as well as using some locals at the bottom of the card, to work his cards in Nebraska and South Dakota until some point in 1972 when he began working exclusively with the AWA.

I'm sure some cards I put in RR12 could have gone in Central States and possibly some CS cards were actually Dusek shows. There are so many county fairs booked that never listed a lineup which might someday be found with some more research. If anyone asked a year ago what I would be posting here, I couldn't have told you. I hope for everyone that dedicates their work to specific projects, that a scrounger might fall ass backwards into information that moves the knowledge along.

Redid the career of Mars Bennett on wrestlingdata. Went from around 410 matches to over 750. Now looking at China Mira. If you are wondering why... they both have unique names, but not ones that had multiple spellings or mis-spellings. Also, the women appeared at a lot of spot shows that might be missed otherwise. But I'm also noticing that the wrestlingdata database is missing a lot of information from the South for the 50s.

I started with Long Island results from 1940 until present day. I should have broken it down more by years but didn't do it. I just put results in as I saw them. I have a ton more stuff than i had on my original post but I didn't collate it well. I might try to reinvent the threads and see where it goes. The problem with that is, I think it would lead to too many threads.

I sent Vance Nevada a message on this already but I am glad to see a Red Bastien record book now posted, and I added it to my single page view thread in case it grows even larger with additions. I know there are some listings in RR12 but I won't filter through that until later. Red and Carol, his longtime SO (don't think they got married), were among the first people I met after my first CAC when he was President, and loved all his stories over the next ten years, until the onset of his dementia quickly robbing him of what had been a pretty sharp memory.
Regarding Southern wrestling in the 50s, I have been finding papers that have ads or columns promoting various shows but there is something in crunching the data I find difficult. The way a lot of their articles are laid out and their ad composition is laid out in such a way that I feel bogged down in trying to transcribe much of it. I would be interested in DaClyde's perspective on how he finds that researching climate, as he specialized with an entire book related to Alabama.

I mostly try to stick to the 1930s, but I actually got my researching start digging through the Anniston and Florence papers on Google News Archive from the 1950s. Every town is very much its own thing, with not a lot of mentions of what happened elsewhere, except for Birmingham, because it covered the whole greater B'ham area, that included about 5 more towns that ran wrestling in the 1930s. I want to say both Anniston and Oneonta both strayed from Chris Jordan's booking office and worked more with Georgia bookers for awhile. And when Jordan died and Joe Gunther took over, Gunther effectively abandoned all the towns north of Birmingham to concentrate on the southern half of the state, along with the Gulf Coast from Pensacola to New Orleans. Because of that, Huntsville, Decatur and the Shoals mostly went dark until Nick Gulas re-opened them in the 1950s.
Because the various towns' papers didn't make much mention of each other, I missed a good chunk of shows from Fayette, Lanett, Brewton and Cordova because of that, and didn't catch them until about a year after the book was published when they surfaced on Newspapers.com. I knew I had gaps in the schedule, but there were so many small towns to choose from, and I only had so much time I could spend randomly guessing which microfilm to try next.
The towns that only ran weekly papers were a challenge. If they didn't report results, I wasn't often sure the advertised shows even ran, especially if there was no follow up. Jasper has large gaps where I'm fairly certain wrestling was running every week, but the papers weren't covering it.
I would love to have a do-over for that first book as I have learned so much since then, and I got myself into a bit of a time crunch to get it out before the 2019 CAC Reunion.

In the past week I have found results from Lanett, Piedmont, Fort Payne, Centre, Cedar Bluff and Menlo High School, which appears to be located in New Moon. I can't get the pulse of wrestling in the state and maintain my dedication to it. But you'll see a bunch of the cards in Random Results 12 from the 50s, and doing a preliminary search from the 30s, the newspapers.com site has almost 9000 search results just for the search term of wrestling.

Kriss, you had a project started for Iron Mike DiBiase which I have found some additions for, but are there some years around 1961 till his death that you didn't get around to uploading? Currently I am tooling around the Nebraska-Colorado-Wyoming areas and it seems like he might turn up again...

A lot of what I do now I enter straight into wrestlingdata, which is why I don't post as much here anymore. I don't think I have anything typed up that I haven't posted here. You might find DiBiase as Miguel Lopez in any CO or WY cards promoted by Mike London. As for NE, I've seen a lot of the newspapers for smaller papers popping up online, and pretty much all of the summer fair cards I've found are new to me, so that is probably an untapped source.

Most of the time I am using WrestlingData as a barometer for parts of a career timeline that has gaps, so I'll pay more attention that way regarding DiBiase. While this S&W site is a great receptacle for contributors, the WD site has the structure to organize everything and it is encouraging to see totals increase as I review how many cards from the U.S. and Japan there are, being the top two nations by far.

Earlier this week I opened an email box that I abandoned for the most part. Inside I found a number of links I had copied and pasted from more than 10 years ago, to be reviewed later for content. I believe most of them were specific Google news archive searches from a time when you could work more easily with their archives. I tested a few of them to find the links still took you to pages with wrestling info. If anyone wants to spend any time browsing a few hundred pages, I am happy to copy them into a message here. I'm distracted elsewhere right now but if the legwork is a hurdle for a would-be researcher, this info might be a way to mine where the gold is already known to be.
