The team didn't want to pay him. I don't blame him for being a hard ass on this one, and the team should have never guaranteed that contract without insurance. But Strasburg was not insurable and that should have told them something.

I remember like it was yesterday his very hyped debut. Hard to believe an entire career went by since then.

I remember like it was yesterday his very hyped debut. Hard to believe an entire career went by since then. I happened to be in Atlantic City and the game was on in the Casino bar. The first time he threw his curve, I blurted out HOLY FUCK. My wife didn't get it, but the people at the bar did. Man that kid could throw, and even after countless injuries he would always come back and flash some magic. I truly believe that he regretted sitting out the playoffs when he did because the team forced him. Then when he really should have sat out, he gutted out a couple of amazing performances and that probably contributed to the end of his career.

It was literally the greatest curve I had ever seen, and I think I said the same thing at my house.

Loved that he got a ring in 2019 and beat the Astros just before the sign stealing scandal broke. Strasburg was amazing during that playoff run.
Read a book about the 2019 season called "Buzzsaw" (one of those $3 pickups at Ollie's). Pretty good book, but you realize how lucky Rizzo was as GM to back into that title the way he wasted money. They signed Patrick Corbin longterm before the 2019 season for 6 yrs/$140 million. Although it was a smart move to let Rendon walk.

Wow, I hadn't heard that name in forever. I didn't realize he was still active. Did they have another great young arm around the time he debuted, or am I blending him with Kerry Wood & Mark Prior in Chicago?

Yeah the Hype that was when he joined the Harrisburg Senators for a short time before joining the Nationals was wild. Same with Harper. Luckily was able to see them both play Even if you were in the worst seat of the house, you had a great view in Harrisburg. You mentioned the two intriguing names of this generation. Both were supremely talented. The biggest mistake I made was being in Reno NV the week before the Angels brought Mike Trout to the big leagues. He played seven innings one night and the full game the next, then he went to the big club. Would've been nice to see him, and that field was tiny.
