Thank God that this happened at 1:30 am instead of rush hour. Unfortunately, there was a construction crew working on the bridge at the time working on filling pot holes. Also, the ship was able to issue a "Mayday" alert so police were able to be quickly dispatched and stop traffic to prevent cars from getting on the bridge prior to the ship hitting it.
They are still trying to determine how many people may have fallen into the river and the number of cars that went in the water. As of now, there were 2 people rescued and they are still looking for 6 construction workers.
