It was decided that Hayes, rather than usual officials David Manning or Bronco Lubich, would be "tough but fair" and able to keep control in the match. During the match, Von Erich and Flair got knocked out, and Hayes dragged Kerry on top of Flair and counted to three. However, Von Erich refused to accept the victory, and gave the match to Flair. 1986 - The Nightmares (Danny Davis and Ken Wayne) defeat Tony Anthony and Jerry Stubbs for the Continental Wrestling Federation Tag Team Title in Birmingham, Alabama.
1987 - World Class Championship Wrestling held their "Christmas Star Wars" event at Reunion Arena in Dallas, Texas, drawing over 4,000 fans. The show was headlined by three steel cage matches, and one of the more distasteful angles in wrestling history. Here are the results:
- The Missing Link defeated Vince Apollo.
- The Real Thing (Rip Morgan) defeated Jason Sterling.
- Brian Adias vs. Bill Irwin ended in a double countout.
- The Fantastics defeated Jack Victory & John Tatum.
- Kerry Von Erich won a Pole Battle Royal, climbing a pole to grab the $10,000 prize.
- World Class Texas Champion Matt Borne defeated The Iron Sheik.
- Jeff Raitz defeated Tony Falk.
- Eric Embry defeated Shaun Simpson in a Steel Cage match to win the World Class Light Heavyweight Title.
- Kevin Von Erich, Chris Adams & Steve Simpson defeated Terry Gordy, Buddy Roberts & Iceman Parsons in a Steel Cage match to win the vacant World Class Six Man Tag Team Title.
- World Class Champion Al Perez defeated Kerry Von Erich in a steel cage match. Prior to the match, Fritz Von Erich was attacked by a group of heels and faked a heart attack in the ring. Legitimate news media fell for the act, and reported on his "heart attack" as being real. For the next several weeks, Fritz' "condition" would get better or worse depending on how well the shows were drawing, as his sons promised to get revenge for what had happened to their father.
1987 - Lord Humongous (Sid Vicious) defeats Danny Davis for the NWA Southeastern Heavyweight Title in Knoxville, Tennessee.
1987 - Dave Peterson ends the 18th NWA Central States Heavyweight Title reign of Bob Brown in St. Joseph, Missouri.
1988 - Mike Graham defeats The Terminator to win the vacant NWA Florida Heavyweight Title in Tampa, Florida. The title had been vacated when champion Mike Rotunda gave the belt to Rick Steiner. This began Graham's second reign.

1991 - Rex King and Ricky Santana defeat The Heartbreakers (Wendell Cooley and Frankie Lancaster) for the WWC World Tag Team Title in San Juan, Puerto Rico. At the same show, Invader I wins his fifth WWC Television Title, defeating Dick Murdoch, and Greg Valentine defeats Miguel Pérez, Jr. to win the WWC Caribbean Heavyweight Title, ending Pérez's third.
1992 - Mohammad Hussein (Lou Fabbiano) and El Vigilante defeat Ray Gonzalez and Rex King to win the WWC World Tag Team Title in Carolina, Puerto Rico.
1993 - Black Bart and John Hawk (JBL) defeat Steven Dane and Chaz Taylor for the Global Wrestling Federation Tag Team Title in Dallas, Texas. At the same event, Chris Adams wins the GWF North American Heavyweight Title from Iceman King Parsons.

1999 - El Cobarde, Sr. defeats El Hijo del Solitario in Toluca, Mexico to win the Mexican National Heavyweight Title, beginnign his second reign.
2003 - Mr. Gannosuke and Tetsuhiro Kuroda defeat Jun Kasai and Tengukeiser for the vacant AJPW All Asia Tag Team Title in Tokyo, Japan.

The title was vacated earlier in the year when Scorpio, Jr., who held the title with El Veneno and Cerebro Negro, jumped to AAA.

Larry SC
Here's a card from Charlotte 1982 that I wrote about for the Mid Atlantic Gateway site several years ago:
It was Christmas Day in 1982. A Saturday, eeef u wheel! (That's for all you Dusty-speaking readers from the WrestlingClassics.com Message Board--you know who you are!). I was a single, 24-year old with nothing much to do that day. I found out there was a wrestling card in Charlotte that evening and decided to attend. After doing the obligatory visiting of family and friends, I headed north on US Highway 521 for the 90 minute drive to the Queen City. I would get to Charlotte early to find the famed Charlotte Coliseum and get my ticket. I was hoping all the way there that the event wasn't sold out (luckily it wasn't).
The starting time of the card was 7:30 I believe. I got to the arena around 5:00 and managed to purchase a decent seat in the upper level. It was a good view. I ended up sitting directly across from where the wrestlers made their entrances. It was cool. Here are the results:
Roddy Piper beat Greg Valentine
Ricky Steamboat & Jay Youngblood beat Sgt. Slaughter & Pvt. Kernodle
CAGE MATCH: Jimmy Valiant, Bob Orton & Jerry Brisco beat Jos Leduc, Bruiser Brody & Oliver Humperdink (the only time I got to see Brody wrestle in person)
Jack Brisco beat Paul Jones
Mike Rotundo beat Leroy Brown to win NWA(Mid Atlantic) Television Title
Johnny Weaver & Sweet Brown Sugar beat Gene Anderson & Dory Funk, Jr.
Bill White beat Mike Davis
Rick Harris beat Porkchop Cash
Pvt. Nelson beat King Parsons
But this story is about what happened after the matches. I was hungry and decided to get a bite to eat before heading back to Sumter. I managed to find this little dive of a bar that was still open and serving food. I sat at the bar and ordered a burger, fries, and a Coke. After ordering, I notice a gentlemen came in and sat on the stool next to me. I turned and who did I see but SANTA CLAUS!! Yes, jolly old St. Nick himself was there! This guy didn't have the fake beard & such--his was one of the home-grown, real-life, white-as-snow ones! He said he had just come from "delivering toys to a local Christmas party" and stopped in for a "nitecap"! So, without hesitation, I told the bartender to give Santa whatever he wanted and put it on my tab.
He ordered a shot of whiskey, downed it, thanked me, and said he had to get back to "the North Pole" before the wife got worried. He then told me that he would put me on the "Nice" list for next year. I finished my food, left a hefty tip for the bar-keep and came home.

Angelic Assassin
This supposedly happened on Christmas Day 2006 according to PWI:
December 25: Someone finally wins Chris Masters’ “Masterlock Challenge,” but he is not a member of the Raw roster. During WWE’s 2006 Tribute to the Troops, Staff Sgt. Jose Avila breaks free from the hold following some timely interference by Santa Claus (who reveals himself to be John Bradshaw Layfield). Within weeks of the occurrence, Masters goes on to claim the win is not official and that his undefeated “Masterlock Challenge” streak remains intact.
