I started the Update City thread as a way to keep researching under the limitations of how all those massive info dumps at the start of 2023 are a real problem for me to open on my laptop. If I find a card or result that I feel might be new material for a territory thread, I am not checking to see if it's already there. Should you find something worthy of adding to those composite threads, I encourage you to copy and paste it over there
And then there's the fun of finding random indy dates for well-known names. I was surprised to see Brian James working in 1990 on an Armstrong-heavy fight card, which was about 4 years before I ever saw him in WCW. It was interesting to see there was a Road Dawg appearing on the undercard as well. Ivan Koloff after 1989 was a fun dive into the world of Carolina independents where he led a band of JCP alums into a bevy of weekend warrior-laden cards. Tony Atlas has about 15 years of similar barnstorming from about 1990-2005.
I'm trying to show my work in as many cases as possible with a screencap for entertainment value as well as a visual for new eyes to peruse who may have a unique perspective. If an innocuous name on a card developed into someone better-known, or a masked identity helps place a talent somewhere during his career, this site is among the best place to get proper scrutiny.
I will say that in most cases, I'm not typing specific title matches because many times there's no distinct notation of which competitor is the champ at the time. The visual aid is there if you want to extrapolate the data and match it to any known title histories.
Any ideas for future rabbit holes to explore, or thoughts on what's already been posted, add them here and I'll be that much more motivated. Thanks

I'm just now finding numerous cards in the Omaha region from about 1958-64 for Otto Von Krupp aka Boris Malenko, a series of fair shows and small towns not yet among his WrestlingData database of matches. They'll be on Update City before long.

I am impressed with the number of views on the Update City thread. I'm hoping some of these listings can be spot-checked by those who follow territory or career record threads and will add them accordingly as they find the new material over there.

I know that WrestlingData researchers are able to add content from research done here, but since I'm not opening the massive territory info dumps, the folks who are checking Update City (coming up on 20000 hits) will at the very least find material that hasn't been posted to WD. I found a bunch of Florida stuff (some results but mainly ads with lineups) today including a 1977 card from Terry Bollea's first week in the ring. The results are only partial on WD and the results on Cagematch show that the card was changed a bit from what they advertised.

There are just not enough of us at WD to keep up with how much new stuff is being added here at S&W. I'm focused on the 70s right now, specifically 71-73, which is why I added all the Quebec results from those years. It takes longer than you would think to add cards, and when they are all from different eras and territories, it takes even longer. The oldest ones that you have been finding so many of are the hardest. Keep going, though. If you enjoy doing it, that should be enough.

I don't use the feature often but I have noticed the "recent updates" section at times on WrestlingData and it's fun to glance at towns or promotions getting added in streaks. I figure that if someone is inspired to search the Update City thread individually for a specific wrestler or town with the purpose of adding to another database like WD or for their own files, anything on there can sort itself fairly quickly, as seen on that inquiry about Junkyard Dog matches.
For anyone who is still doing the hard work of adding to the territory threads, there's undoubtedly four or five regions with multiple cards that could be added amidst the 100 pages posted at present in Update City. Florida, AWA, WWWF, Georgia and Central States are probably the most prolific. My computer problems in opening the info dumps on those early pages of each territory thread are somewhat alleviated when I click the "last updated" box on the right side of the page, so I at least can see if someone has found a nugget of info I've added that is worth including there.

The UPDATE City Megathread is my favorite. In particular the older material.

The UPDATE City Megathread is my favorite. In particular the older material. I'm glad to see you make it over to this new hosted version of S&W; just now I added that Hickory, NC ad for my Larry Zbyszko record book, although he has a result in Harrisonburg, WV which is about 300 miles away. I can picture Larry in his plane easily able to work a double shot! Just curious if the yellow tint on some of those clips is from age, or a filter you use in creating the collage?

I added the tint to that ad because I like it. With some papers I don't have to because the archives already look like that. I appreciate all the work you put into the megathread.
