The show was very good, as expected. Another 5 hour show, but I don't watch these things live, or in one sitting, so that doesn't bother me. For the longest time, all I wanted to watch was indie wrestling with professional production, and with Black & Gold NXT and then AEW, I;ve been getting that for a long time now. I'm not gonna complain too much about how they get these matches in the ring.

Because AEW doesn't have enough titles, and because ROH is clearly on fire right now, ROH will be adding a Women's TV title in 2024. Announced so far for the the tournament to crown a first champion are Billie Starkz, Leyla Hirsch, Kiera Hogan, Lady Frost, and Rachel Ellering. So you have the girl who just showed she wasn't ready for the main ROH women's title yet, an AEW mid-carder who is almost forgotten, 2 Impact rejects who never even did anything there, and an indy wrestler who flamed out of NXT quickly.

AEW maybe need to rethink their mammoth TV tapings they do at their live TVs. They regularly tape 2 hours of ROH before and after Collision, and on this week's ROH TV, by the time we got to Christopher Daniels vs Lee Johnson (which I believe was the last match taped of the night), there were very few few people left in the arena. It looked like they brought everyone down to fill the front three rows of ringside and then turned all the lights off. They'd be much better filming ROH in a smaller arena, or even going back to Universal Studios. There must have been a production pause before the Daniels-Johnson match because it was very clear that the crowd was smaller for this match. I think most of ROH is taped before Collision and this was taped after. And for some reason, they put Daniels over. At this point in his career, Daniels shouldn't be winning any matches.

It's a horrible atmosphere every time I've ever seen an ROH show. No one is there to watch ROH. No one give a shit, and you sure as hell can't have an old-school ROH-style match that goes 30 minutes with lots of grappling, because that will bore that crowd to tears. I don't understand why a billionaire can't figure out how to do 4 TV tapings a month in the Inner Harbor in Baltimore like they used to do, where you'll draw a few hundred real ROH fans who want to watch actual ROH wrestlers (who should be mostly exclusive to that brand and NEVER used as complete jobbers in AEW).

This is the worst example of a small and quiet crowd I've ever seen on ROH. It sounded like the crowds at Daily's Place during Covid. It's probably a factor in AEW crowds being down every time they return to a building. It's one thing to give people value for money, but there are a lot of people who probably come away from an AEW show and their biggest take is that the show was too long. And for every wrestling nerd who would happily enjoy a five hour wrestling show because they don't have work the next day, the friends who came along the first time because they watch wrestling on TV once a week will be harder to convince to return.

Supercard of Honor is tonight. Easily the weakest card, with very few "main roster" AEW names. Understandable, since these aren't PPVs anymore, and are PLEs on the Honor Club streaming service. I'm looking forward to the main event, the women's TV title match and the Stardom match the most, but I'm sure it will be good in-ring quality all-round. I think the TBA tag team might be the Motor City Machine Guns.
Pre-show:
Cole Karter & Griff Garrison vs. Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico) The Varsity Athletes (Tony Nese & Josh Woods) vs. TBA
Main show:
Mei Seira & Empress Nexus Venus (Mina Shirakawa & Maika) vs. Tam Nakano and Queen's Quest (Saya Kamitani & AZM) ROH World Television Champion Kyle Fletcher vs. Lee Johnson Fight Without Honor: Johnny TV vs. Dalton Castle ROH World Tag Team Champions The Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) vs. The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean) ROH Women's World Television Title Tournament Final: Billie Starkz vs. Queen Aminata ROH Women's World Champion Athena vs. Hikaru Shida ROH World Champion Eddie Kingston vs. Mark Briscoe

The sit-down interview with Kingston and Briscoe on last night's ROH TV was tremendous.

Mariah May vs. Momo Kohgo has been added to the pre-show after the two were on opposite sides in a 6-woman tag match at last night's Stardom show at the 2300 Arena.

I literally didn’t know this was happening. Completely forgot that ROH runs WM weekend. Never mentioned on AEW TV. How is this brand less visible now than it was when it was a complete Indy?

It's just me that watches ROH now. Tony Khan has so much money that he keeps ROH going instead of sending me Khan dollars.

I would be interested in watching this match. Shirakawa might be last years most improved wrestler. Maika is the current red belt champ. Nakano is always a top 10 wrestler for Stardom and hinting at retirement. AZM (Azumi) debut at age 11. She's 21 now and the next opponent for Stephanie Vacquer, the New Japan Strong Champ.

I thought the show was very good. Les star-studded than previous ROH PPVs, but that meant that more of the matches actually had stories from the weekly TV going into them. The final two matches were excellent. Could have done without Caprice Coleman's preaching though.

I'm 2 hours into a 4 1/2 hour show and coming close to tapping out and skipping to the main event. At this point, it's just an indy show with worse indy talent than most indy shows. Like The Infantry are certainly not top 50 indy stars, but they're having an interminably long match against The Kingdom here. It's a Rampage match that's twice as long. I simply don't care. There's too much wrestling this weekend to watch that shit.

It took me 2 days, but I got through all of Supercard of Honor. Athena vs. Shida was very good, the best women's match of the weekend so far. It was worth sticking with the show to see Mark Briscoe finally become ROH World champion. A great celebration at the end as all the original ROH stars including Jay Lethal, Christopher Daniels, Colt Cabana, Mike Bennett, and Matt Taven came out to celebrate with him and his family. No Carey Silkin to present the belt, which was disappointing. No TK either, not that he had to be out there. As far as I'm concerned, I never have to watch ROH again. Let the company die with that moment. Ian Roccaboni did a tremendous summation as they went off the air, saying (paraphrasing), "22 years ago, Mark Briscoe wasn't old enough to compete in this city on the first ROH show. Today, with Jay and the world looking on, he's ROH World champion." That's it, fade to black, know when to end things. That's the final scene in any movie.

What did you think of the Dalton Castle match? I can see why people would have hated it, but I enjoy this Chikara-style comedy nonsense. Johnny TV basically giving himself a spine buster when Paul Walter Hayser came our was unintentionally funny (or maybe intentionally). Loved that the crowd paid its part, popping in all the right places and the "shock" of the PWH reveal.
