I'm still enjoying ROH. 2 hours of good wrestling, even if there is still too much of the Trustbusters. Skip the show if you wan more sports entertainment in your wrestling, though. Aussie Open vs Daniels & Sydal is the stand-out match if you only want to watch one match.

A few days to Supercard of Honor and they can’t produce TV that is even slightly relevant and compelling?

I really enjoyed last night's episode of ROH. Over the 5 shows, they did a good job IMHO of building to the PPV over five weeks from basically a standing start. If you only watch one match, watch Athena vs Emi Sakura. A PPV quality match and the best women's match in the history of AEW/current-era ROH. The only negative I have is that (the fact that it wasn't live notwithstanding) we knew Sakura had no chance because Athena had already been announced for the PPV. Sakura probably deserved better than that. Still an awesome match, and I'm really looking forward to Athena vs Yuka Sakazaki. Vikingo vs Blake Christian was also very good. Just 2 hours of good wrestling, which is fine by me, but I understand some people want more of the sports entertainment.

10/10 show last night. Not saying every match was perfect but I thoroughly enjoyed that show from start to finish. Vikingo vs Komander was the best high-flying lucha match and I don't give a fuck if anyone wants to tell me it looked fake. Nice surprise to add Nigel McGuinness to the commentary team and he was very switched on to both AEW and ROH storylines so hopefully this is something permanent. Huge surprise to have Samoa Joe go over Mark Briscoe and make his daughters cry, but it makes Joe an even bigger heel, and nice to be surprised at a finish. The ladder match was insane, and the Dante Martin injury fake-out was a work of art. It looked so real, but I watched it a few times and I think I know how they did it. Dave Meltzer got completely owned twice on this show, and I think his days of being an insider source are over. He's either making stuff up or is getting worked by someone, or he's really working for TK, but I doubt that. The first story was that Brian Cage is leaving AEW/ROH and would lose the 6-man title last night. Nope. The second was that Vincent & Dutch were maybe close to signing with WWE. No one has been talking about these guys before Meltzer went with that story, then they showed up to challenge The Dark Order last night. LOL.
Anyway. Great show. Watch it. They also did a good job of setting the direction coming out of the PPV.

They also did a good job of setting the direction coming out of the PPV. Wait, Dante Martin wasn't really hurt? Because then Meltzer got played again because he said it was a Joe Theisman level injury. I thought the show was good with some really unpredictable booking, for better or worse. Joe going over Mark and then Castagnoli going over Kingston certainly didn't leave the fans with much to cheer about. The NJPW guys owned the ROH guys and I don't consider that a good thing. Shibata was out of the business and absolutely dominated Wheeler Yuta, that did him no favors at all. Tanahashi jobs in NJPW all the time now but not this weekend, beating Mike Bailey in Impact and now Daniel Garcia in ROH, and either guy is on the cusp and could've really used that win to take it to the next level. Vikingo-Komander and the ladder match were entertaining trainwrecks as you'd expect. I'm struggling to get a feel for the new ROH as a real company like it was before though, it's mostly just AEW and NJPW guys slumming it.

My Dante Martin comment was a l'il April Fool's joke.
I really enjoyed the show for what it was, as it was presented. I understand that people had fantasy booked the show and were upset that it didn't follow how they think it should have gone.

This week's show is under 90 minutes, and it seems to go down every week. When it started, it was over 2 hours. I'll skim again this week but thus show always just strikes me as Dark.

I skimmed through it. Same old, same old. Good Kingston promo. Decent main event with Castagnoli vs. Metalik. The outcome of all the matches were never in doubt, except Bennett vs. Darius, which ended in a DQ. The Workhorsemen looked good against Shibata and Coughlin but never win. The show just has no energy to it.

These shows are never going to be must-see for most people, but the main event match between Athena and Skye Blue was very good. Much better than 90% of the women's matches you'll see on Dynamite. Athena is a level above almost everyone on the main AEW women's roster as far as in-ring work goes and she's probably the MVP of ROH at the moment.

What I saw if Athena since her heel turn has been great. Her level of aggression has been unparalleled. Every other woman is too busy memorizing a move sequence in their heads, Athena looks like she’s murdering people. She deserves better than to be stuck on this show. I doubt I will dig up this match though. And with Kingston out now for 2 months, my main reason to watch ROH is gone.

I really enjoyed this week's ROH. Rey Fenix vs Gringo Loco, Zack Sabre Jr vs AR Fox and Action Andretti & Darius Martin vs Matt Taven & Mike Bennett were all very good matches. They also started an interesting angle with Christopher Daniels, Matt Sydal, Samoa Joe and ZSJ. Kinda funny that ZSJ has worked for both WWE and AEW, had very well-received matches, but has only ever appeared on bottom-tier shows. That should change because it looks like they are building towards ZSJ vs Samoa Joe at Forbidden Door, either title vs title or just a battle of the TV champions.

OK, srossi, I might admit that this week's 2 hour and 56 minute episode of ROH was maybe a little long. The main event was good, though.

ROH is starting to find its groove now. It's still heavy on in-ring action, but I think it's really there to super-serve people who want that. The women's division is the standout at the moment. The builds of Athena and Willow Nightingale are something I don't think could be done in AEW, and it's going to be a great match when they finally build. I like that they aren't even teasing the match yet, just building the biggest heel and the biggest face to a point when they will have to face each other. Maybe something for the Forbidden Door pre-show, but it should main event an ROH PPV later this year. They need to move the world and heavyweight titles onto full-time AEW wrestlers soon. Claudio and the Lucha Bros are hardly ever on the show, but I think it's better not to try to focus on all the titles at once, and right now, it's the women's and TV titles that are getting the spotlight.
