Not sure what I was thinking. This is a 1970-1979 thread. Sorry about posting 1968 results

FYI- Those July 1977 cards should list Johnny Valiant rather than Johnny Valentine, whose plane crash in 1975 ended his in-ring activity.

Thanks bkb!
Thanks OneFanGang! I didn’t think about that when I saw his name in the write up .

More 1972 notes.
On the 6/27/72 Chicoutimi card, it can't be Tiger Jeet Singh in the second match, since he was in Australia, and it's an odd position for him to be on the card anyway. I'm guessing that this was Deepak Singh.
Were there really two cards in two days in Chicoutimi on 8/1 and 8/2? I think the results listed for 8/2 are the results for the 8/1 card.
Cesar Valentino didn't make any dates in 1972, he stayed in Mexico. The NC on 5/13 is probably meant to be "no match".

Thanks Kriss,
You're correct, the results should be for the 8/1/72 Chicoutimi, QC card.
Ok, will make the change also to the 6/27/72 card.

Kriss,
I went back and looked at the results for the 5/13 card, and the writeup translates as...
"The first fight of the evening ended in a no-contest as Butch Morgan and Cesar Valentino refused to follow the referee's orders."
Again, I don't know much about the early 70's. Wondering if it was someone else masquerading as Cesar?
Would the fans even know?

All of these Montreal area results are awesome! But so many questions for a results guy like me; We had a Michel Gagnon appearing in 1972 but also a Raymond Gagnon...same guy or two people? We've Willie Tremblay, Jean Tremblay and then in early 1972...Roger Tremblay! All one and the same? Pierre Gagne in 1970 and then a Carol Gagne in 1972? Jean-Claude Bouchard in 1971 and Jean-Marie Bouchard in 1972...one and the same?

Good questions, andyo, unfortunately, I wish I knew the answers. I *think* Willie/Wellie and Jean were different people, as well as Roger. Hopefully, someone with a lot more knowledge of the territory from back then can chime in. I was at the mercy of what the newspapers were listing.
Can you check to see if some of these names were listing the same hometown and weights? I know some of the ads were pretty good about adding those, but I did not add them to my lists.

Pierre Gagne was a different wrestler than Carol Gagne. Pierre Gagne was wrestling for the Grand Prix Promotion in February 1972 and Carol Gagne was appearing in an Amateur Tournament in Chicoutimi in February 1972. Pierre wrestled in Vancouver and the USA under different names- Jim Gagne, John Gagne, Jacques Gagne, Jim St. Clair. I also think Willie Tremblay and Jean Tremblay were two different wrestlers, but I have no proof of that yet. The others I have no idea

One reason I think Jean and Willie Tremblay (and maybe even Roger!) are one and the same is I find no references to any two of them being on the same card. Then of course we have Ben/Bob/Butch Morgan!

I'm gonna have a look at all those different names and see what fits together. If they were two people, I suspect that a lot newspaper error is also out enemy here.

Bob Morgan and Butch Morgan were two different wrestlers. Bob Morgan was a portly wrestler and later a Referee. His real name is/was Rene Methot. I have seen photos of both and they are not even close.
Now Ben Morgan and Butch Morgan I have no idea. I know Butch Morgan shows up in the ads or results in the newspaper a lot more often than Ben Morgan. Hopefully someday I will figure it out

Hey! Aurel Hébert AKA Boris Kosloff was my great uncle. I actually have an autographed picture of him as his Boris Kosloff persona!
