At some point in 1981 a group of 5-6 wrestlers made a stand against Leroy McGuirk's Tri-State group in Oklahoma and everyone was fired regardless of their place on the card or whether they held any titles. Oklahoma was not a major wrestling territory by then and Leroy was almost closed anyway, so I only read about it in some Terry Justice newsletter maybe 10 years ago. Justice was obsessed with Eddie and Tommy Gilbert back then and had all details of their careers and personal lives in every issue! Eddie was among the 5-6 talents let go, showing a plucky nature against the Office that I only recall seeing later on in the 90s. The others included Ed Wiskoski who wound up in Mid-South, and Ron McFarlane who I believe became half off The Alabama Chain Gang with Jerry Brown in Florida.

Was the beef in Oklahoma strictly about money or were there other concerns?

Was the beef in Oklahoma strictly about money or were there other concerns? It's been too long since I read the bulletin; maybe someone's got it from the info dump at Pro Wrestling History.
