Nothing serious or important, but just thought this would be fun to bounce off you guys.
So, I changed jobs about 10 years ago. Went from a smaller company to a bigger organization. Very content with my move. Sort of a medium-sized fish in a very big pond now, but the pond is important and well-regarded and insulated from economic downturns. At the old place, I was a medium fish in a small pond, but basically not appreciated at all, and tons of stress about the long-term health of the company, especially through 2008-2011 and the economic crisis.
So, I've had this dream honestly probably 25-30 times.
The dream is that I'm still employed at my current job and absolutely don't want to leave, but I haven't "officially" left my old job yet. I find myself back at the old office working part-time, sometimes just in a cubicle there while I'm doing work for my new job. Sometimes I help out with work at the old job. But generally I'm still working for the new job, but I'm going into the office at the old job. There's a weird arrangement. Everyone knows the deal.
Now, in real life, any scenario like this would absolutely never fly. As I type this out, it even sounds fucking ridiculous. There are disclosures you have to make about working two jobs. The entire time-clock issue and being accountable and available on-site would be a thing.
This seems like there's some deep down part of me that either misses the people at the old company or maybe there's some unfinished personal business I didn't take care of. But at the same time, I really went out of my way to do everything the correct way when I left. I gave them ample notice, met with the owner of the company, finished all of my work. I think I even remember asking Rossi for advice on being a good guy on the way out. There was a small hiccup with getting paid what I thought was accrued vacation/personal time, as they pulled some bullshit on my final day about what's carryover and what's not, but my wife and I decided to just say fuck it and let it go. But again, it's not anything I even think about 10 years later.
So, the other option is maybe I'm going in to the old office to show off and stick it up their ass that I've moved on and become something bigger than them?
I don't know.

How the old job ended is unsettling to you even today. You may have had a relationship (boss, coworker) that you were close to and miss. You may not be confident in your standing in the current job.

Dreams are weird. Definitely sounds like something unresolved at your old job, but I couldn't tell you what it is.
Last night, I had a vivid dream that I was at my old apartment and my loser "cousin" (my mother's godson) who I haven't seen in almost 10 years came over and basically wrecked the place. There were holes in the wall and a bunch of old video game system parts just thrown all over the place. The guy was a leech and still owes me a small amount of money from years ago, but there's absolutely no reason that should be entering my subconscious at this point.

Did you throw the old job's title belt in the garbage at the new job when you got there? Did something happen at either the old job that you heard about from someone you are still in contact with there(if anyone) or at the new job to make you somewhat nostalgic about the old job? I remember not thinking about an old job for a long time for a long time and then upon hearing that my old boss there had passed away I was reminiscing to myself about the place, good times and bad. Not really in dreams but was wondering what the place was likje and how things would have been at the time had I stayed. Or it's mommy issues. Just kidding.

Seeing as how you are a landlord now you are having dreams about the potential nightmare tenants you might get and what you might find upon visiting one of your properties. Even though it was just an apartment it was yours and ultimately you were responsible for it and what any visitor to it might do. It's also a message not to rent to family or anyone you know as they will think they can do anything they want to the place with no consequences because of the connection.

I felt it had more to do with unresolved bitterness towards my cousin and less to do with literal property damage, but who knows.

Not really in dreams but was wondering what the place was likje and how things would have been at the time had I stayed. Or it's mommy issues. Just kidding. So the other interesting thing - I don't always remember the resolution in the dream. One resolution I do remember is I end up getting fired from the new job because I was reporting to the old workplace, and then I'm devastated. And I remember waking up and thinking "THANK GOD" that wasn't real. A few days ago the dream had an ending that has never happened before. I'm working at the old place (doing work for the new firm remotely), and I see the owner and one of his minions in his office, and they're sorting acting like jackasses. They're like "why the FUCK is he still here?" The minion is trying not to laugh at me. So I go in there, and it got pretty nasty. I basically told them to fuck off and I won't be back. So, it'll be interesting if I ever have this dream again or if I've somehow resolved this in my subconscious mind. As rossi said, dreams are just weird.

This may be an unpopular answer but I don't think it means a darn thing. I'll tell you why. It's been over ten years since you left the last job. Probably every single important aspect of your life has changed in that time. It's probably safe to say that you are not the same man you were back then. Like with most of lifes experiences you no doubt had good times and maybe some crappy times. I'd venture to say nothing traumatic happened there though. Something triggered your subconscious to think about the old job for a night but I'm sure that will be the total extent of it.
Either that or you can't hold back your craving for BBC any longer.

It is some unfinished business, maybe even minor, that is buried in your subconscious.
I have 3 or 4 similar dreams that recur. One is the high school forgot your locker combo that many people have. Another is I am back at college and I have to get my schedule arranged to fit in one more class OR i have the class but I cannot find the class room and I have to get there.
The needing one more class I think is tied to a late switch from accounting to general business. I always thought I’d go get the couple of accounting classes I needed and sit for the CPA. Ended up getting an MBA and pursued a different direction. But thought about it for 5 years or so after graduating.
Still lingers I guess.
I also dream of my former employer (family business) that went under. I am back there. Trying to figure it out and help out.

The high school one that pops up about once a year is the one where you forgot to study for a test. Amazing that 25 years later that can still be such a big part of your subconscious.

It's final semester, and the day before finals begin, I somehow discover I forgot to attend one class for the entire semester. I have to take the final with no prior knowledge or studying, plus I've blown off all homework and participation points, so I'm screwed. I have to go back to college for another semester to take one class, find an apartment or a dorm room, parents can't afford it and loans are maxed out. I'm frantically calling my advisor to see if there's a way around it. I have the HS locker one less frequently now, but that's popped up too.

Do you have some unresolved issue at your previous job? Maybe that keeps popping up in your Dreams.
